# Discounts: Shopify Functions and Shopify Scripts


### Overview

UpsellPlus applies discounts to upsell offers using **Shopify Functions**. Functions are Shopify's modern, no-code discount engine and are now the only supported way to automatically discount upsell offers in UpsellPlus.

###### Functions

[Shopify Functions](https://www.shopify.com/enterprise/shopify-functions) let you run automated product discounts natively in checkout.

All you have to do is specify the discount amount (percentage or fixed) you want to apply to the upsell and UpsellPlus will do the rest automatically.

###### Shopify Scripts (no longer supported)

Shopify Scripts (the legacy Script Editor) have been fully deprecated by Shopify: editing/publishing Scripts stopped on April 15, 2026, and all Scripts stopped executing on June 30, 2026. If your store still has UpsellPlus discounts configured through Script Editor, they are **no longer running**, and any upsell discounts relying on them have stopped applying at checkout.
