# How to replace Checkout Blocks upsells with UpsellPlus

**Shopify ended Checkout Blocks' checkout upsell features on August 31, 2026.** Product upsells, free gifts and cross-sells built in Checkout Blocks no longer show at checkout. UpsellPlus can rebuild all of them, and we'll do the migration for you for free: no development work and no migration fee.

## Is my store affected?

You're affected if you used Checkout Blocks for any of these at checkout:

- Product upsells or cross-sells
- Free gifts with purchase
- Conditional offers based on cart contents or value

## Option 1: Free migration session (recommended)

2. Match the design to your current checkout
3. Test everything before it goes live

## Option 2: Migrate yourself

1. **List your Checkout Blocks offers.** For each one, write down the products, discount, conditions and where it showed in checkout.
2. **Install UpsellPlus** from the Shopify App Store and open it from **Apps → UpsellPlus**.
3. **Create a checkout offer** for each Checkout Blocks offer: go to **Offers → Create Offer**, and on the **Funnel** tab under **Where should this offer appear?** choose **Checkout** (or **Checkout Header** / **Checkout Footer**).
4. **Add products:** on the **Offers** tab, under **How should products be selected?**, choose **Specific Products**, **From Collections or Tags**, or **Automatic** (ShopBrain) to have recommendations picked for you.
5. **Recreate the conditions** in the **Targeting** section: cart value, cart products, collections, customer tags, markets, discount codes, and more.
6. **Recreate free gifts** by choosing **Free Gift** on the **Behavior** tab. The gift is added to the cart automatically when the shopper qualifies, and removed when they stop qualifying.
7. **Add the UpsellPlus block** in Shopify's checkout editor (**Settings → Checkout → Customize**) in the same place your Checkout Blocks offer was.
8. **Match the design** using the offer's styling options or Design Mode.
9. **Test** on a draft checkout profile, then publish.

## FAQ

**When did Checkout Blocks stop showing upsells?**
Shopify ended Checkout Blocks' checkout upsell features on Monday, August 31, 2026.

**Does the migration cost anything?**
No. The migration session is free and there's no migration fee.

**Do I need a developer?**
No. Everything is set up in the UpsellPlus app and Shopify's checkout editor.

**Can I keep using Checkout Blocks for non-upsell customizations?**
This change only affects Checkout Blocks' upsell features. UpsellPlus also offers checkout customizations (hide payment or delivery methods, block P.O. boxes, custom content) if you want to manage everything in one app.

**Do I need Shopify Plus?**
Only for checkout offers. Upsells on product pages, cart, post-purchase and the thank-you page work on every plan.
