How to swap a cart product for an upsell product once added

A true upsell is upgrading the customer's purchase from a smaller size to a larger size of the same item.

If you'd like to achieve this with UpsellPlus, you can use the swap functionality in our smart rules. To do so, follow these steps:

1/ Select a product to upsell to

2/ Set the smart rules

Scroll down to the smart rules of the offer you want to enable the swap on.

Choose the product for which this offer should be shown and when the swap should apply. Note: The current smart rule that works for this swap feature is "Cart Products".

Usually, this is the same product as the upsell product, but a smaller variant.



3/ Tick the 'Swap product in cart with upsell product if added (same quantity)'

Save your offer. Now you can go test it in an incognito window for your upsells!

Note: the swap features can only be used for checkout and cart upsells. Post-purchase upsells edit the original order and items can't be removed from the order. Product page upsells are usually shown when the cart is still empty, so there is nothing to swap.
