Getting Started with UpsellPlus: Your Complete Onboarding Guide
Welcome to UpsellPlus!
UpsellPlus is your all-in-one solution for upselling and cross-selling on Shopify. Whether you're new to upsells or a seasoned pro, this guide will walk you through getting started in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Install UpsellPlus from the Shopify App Store
- Go to your Shopify Admin Dashboard
- Navigate to Apps and sales channels in the left sidebar
- Click App and sales channel settings
- Search for UpsellPlus
- Click the app and select Add app
- Review the requested permissions and click Install app
UpsellPlus will now be installed and ready to use!
Step 2: Connect UpsellPlus to Your Shopify Store
Once installed, you'll be taken to the UpsellPlus dashboard. Here's what you need to do:
- Verify that UpsellPlus has access to your Shopify store (this happens automatically during installation)
- Grant the necessary permissions for accessing products, orders, and checkout settings
- Your store data will sync within a few minutes
Step 3: Create Your First Upsell Offer
Now for the fun part—creating your first offer!
- In the UpsellPlus dashboard, click + New Offer
- Choose where you want the offer to appear:
- Product Page: Show a related or upgraded product
- Cart Drawer: Suggest add-ons before checkout
- Checkout: Upsell during the checkout process (Shopify Plus plan required)
- Post-Purchase: Offer products after the customer completes their order
- Select the products you want to upsell
- Set your discount or offer type (percentage off, fixed amount, BOGO, etc.)
- Configure Smart Rules to target the right customers (e.g., cart total > $50, specific products purchased, etc.)
- Click Preview to see how it looks
- Click Go Live when you're ready
Step 4: Preview Your Upsell Offer
Before going live, always preview your offer:
- Click the Preview button on your offer
- You'll see exactly how customers will see it on your store
- Test it on mobile and desktop
- Check that the discount applies correctly in the cart
- Make any adjustments if needed
Step 5: Monitor Your Results
Once your offer is live, start tracking its performance:
- Head to the Analytics tab in UpsellPlus
- View conversion rates, revenue attributed to your upsell, and more
- Use these insights to optimize your offers over time
Pro Tips for Success
- Start simple: Begin with one or two well-targeted offers before scaling
- Use Smart Rules: Target customers most likely to buy (high cart value, specific products, etc.)
- A/B Test: Create variants of your offers to see what resonates best
- Monitor analytics: Track what's working and iterate weekly
