Overview

Implementing post-purchase upsells allows you to offer additional products or services to customers immediately after they complete a purchase. This strategy can enhance customer satisfaction and increase your average order value. UpsellPlus provides a seamless way to set up these offers within your Shopify store.


Step-by-Step Guide


  1. Create a Post-Purchase Offer
  • Log in to your Shopify Admin panel.
  • Navigate to the UpsellPlus app.
  • Click on Create Offer.
  • Select Post-Purchase as the offer type.

  1. Configure the Offer Details
  • Name Your Offer: Provide a descriptive name for internal reference.
  • Add Products: Choose the products you wish to feature in the upsell.
  • Set Discounts: Optionally, apply discounts to make the offer more enticing.
  • Limit Items: Specify the maximum number of items a customer can add from this offer.

  1. Add a Downsell Offer (Optional)
    If a customer declines the initial upsell, you can present a downsell offer with a different product or a better deal.


To add a downsell:

  • Click on Add Downsell Offer.
  • Configure the downsell details similarly to the upsell.

  1. Set Display Conditions
    Define the criteria under which the upsell offer will be shown, such as:
  • Cart value thresholds.
  • Specific products in the cart.
  • Customer tags.


Set the Smart Rules or conditions to display the offers


  1. Preview the Offer
  • Use the preview feature to see how the offer will appear to customers.
  • Note: The button design and colors are inherited from your checkout settings and may differ from the preview.


  1. Save and Activate Your Offer
  • Once you’ve finalized your settings, click Save & Activate.
  • The post-purchase upsell will now appear to customers immediately after checkout.


Key Considerations

  • Relevance: Ensure that the upsell products are complementary to the customer's original purchase to increase the likelihood of acceptance.
  • Timing: Post-purchase offers are presented immediately after the initial purchase, making it a prime opportunity to suggest additional products.
  • Customer Experience: Keep the offers concise and straightforward to avoid overwhelming the customer.
